why do cats saliva at the mouth,

my cat is saliva-ing at the mouth, as in dribbling, has she got a furball stuck in throat

My mum's cat does this when she is being petted and purrs and she rubs her muzzle on people's legs too! I don't think it's anything to worry about if she's contented and purring. Also i think it's a way of them marking their territory, and putting their 'scent' on their surroundings. My cat does it all the time but does'nt dribble. Some cats don't.

i know about when you stroke a cat, they dribble a sign of affection, but this was far worse than the odd dribble. it was more like a flow of it, but with muccas? has she a cold or what are the symptons of a cat being pregnant as she also can't stop meowing!!

She might have a sore mouth or be feeling sick - both can make animals salivate more than usual.

Can you open her mouth? Check inside for redness, swelling or bleeding, and check her teeth and gums.

She also might have eaten or licked something that's making her salivate - I know some flea treatments can do that!

Is she dribbling all the time, or just occasionaly? And how long has she been doing it for?
