How long does a cat stay in season for? I would like my cat to get pregnant however I do not want her straying from home. Would I be able to put her in a room with a cat she dosent know without her being hurt so she can mate? Also At what age is it ok for a cat to get pregnant?

Why do you want your cat to get pregnant?

If you want a kitten why not visit any rescue centre they are absolutely full to bursting with cats and kittens!!

Why would you put your cat through 'rape' and a pregnancy (with possible high vet bills)?

What are you going to do with the kittens? (If any survive).

Please for your cats sake get her spayed!
well said kita1,
lozlg, there are far to many unwanted kittens all over the country, if you really love your cat you would not want to put her through that , surely?,

read through these links PLEASE, then you will see how sensible kita is, and you must start bieng a responsible owner.

I think you lot need to chill out, think you're over-reacting. It's just nature for a cat to get pregnant. I intend to keep all the kittens. I'm a responsibe owner and i'm trying to find out information to make sure she is safe. Sorry i asked!!!

in case the above link does not work:

Nature is cruel. If one cat is allowed to breed and all the kittens from that cat are allowed to breed in 7 years you will have 21,000 cats, can you really keep 21,000 cats?.

Cats can also get diseases from being bitten when mating. That is apart from any difficulties in pregnancy. If you want to keep your cat safe as you say then believe me you will get her spayed.

PS I find it very hard to 'chill out' when I have seen so many cats die simply because they do not have a home. Have you ever had to destroy a perfectly healthy cat because no one wants it? No? Well many people have!!!! Just ask Celia Hammond!
why is it nature for a cat to get pregnant? how do you know that? are you a woman if so then is it just nature for you to get pregnant or do you have a choice? perhaps you can go on the pill or if you are male you will make sure your female will not get pregnant!

how can you keep all the kittens? you will end up with a shop full of them! do yourself & the cat a favour and don't be so stupid.

I have just shown all my colleagues this post and they actually they were shocked by your response. I intend to keep the kittens and i won't be breeding them. I have pleanty of space for them. You really are a bunch of wierdos. You make it sound like pregnancy is such a terrible thing to go through for a cat. I don't want to go and rescue some stray cat. I want my cat to enjoy and experience being a mother to her kittens.

Can anyone normal please answer my questions instead of judging the situation?
People come on this site to ask questions, and people answer those questions. Whether you choose to accept their advice is up to you, but if you don't want answers, don't ask questions!

Having been a member of this site for over a year now, I have seen some very wise and genuine answers given to some very stupid questions, but these answers are given with the best of intentions.

I would also say, if you don't even know the basics of how long a cat is in season for, I really don't think you should be breeding cats anyway.

What are u on about lankeela. All i wanted was the answers to my questions. NO ONE has answered them. I now know the answers, thanks to another website similar to this one (but with normal people on) and i will be going ahead with it. Thanx for all your help lol.
I didn't doubt that for one second. Just hope you don't live to regret it.
If you had bothered to follow the link I gave you would have had ALL your questions answered!

A cat comes into season at six months, can be mated up to three times in one year, can have 6 kittens each time.

A cat can catch FIV and Leukaemia from unneutred male cats (this will hurt your cat).

A cat in season can often be chased away from home and become disorientated and lost and end up having the kittens as a stray on the streets.

I know I am totally wasting my time here, but if you are so concerned about giving your cat the 'pleasure' of being a mother, why then are you not going to give the kittens the same 'pleasure'?

Also it is 'nature' that the kittens leave the mother when a few months old - you will probably have any boy cats mating with their own mother and sisters otherwise!!

Still, as you are so determined that you are going ahead anyway, advice is obviously useless! You will only read what you want to read!
Lozlg i agree with you it your choice to breed your cat and if you are a responsible pet owner then really there is no problem. i do think there are lots of cats out there that need homes but if you want your cat to have babies that by all means find out how to do it right like you are. I'm sorry i don't have an answer to your question sorry but i wanted to let you know that there are people out there that are not as rude and judgmental as the others that have left post for you. as far as they are concerned they are the useless do gooders that are poking there knows in other peoples business and have nothing constructive to say. THEY DONT HAVE THE GOOD SENCE TO ANSWER THE QUESTION YOU ASK THEY JUST WANT TO GIVE ORDERS AND TO FACELESS PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH THERE TIME THEN TRY AND INPOSE THERE VIEW ON OTHERS.
To answer your question I just saw that cats as young as 5 months can have babies. To the girl that called it rape you need to get some help you are seriously messed in the head honey!
if you want to mate your cat, you can calmly take a male (any male) and put them together, it is the female thats a bit agressive in the beginning before she gets to like the male. i dont advise you to take a cat from the street because most of them have the cats HIV virus. i know some of these facts because at this very moment im trying to mate my male with a female.. they are in the same room for two days and he's afraid of her, coz shes a bit agressive.. oh! and if you find a male, i advise you (also the vets say it) that you take your female to him.. if not, its a waste of time..
From what i've heard, the female stays in heat from december to august every 20 days.. and she ovulates more or less when the male covers her..

hope it was of any use..
good luck!
