how long will my pomeranian's first cycle last and when is it safe to get her fixed?she is almost 8 months old.

Hi Cindy Lay, her season should last about 28 days, then talk to your vet about how soon he will perform the operation. Well done you for taking the step of getting her spayed....no unwanted puppies and no more yuck on the sofa....lol

You will only see blood for a few days in the middle of her season, and it is best to have them done about half way through cycles i.e. about three months after she has finished.

My dogs cycle lasted about 4 days if i remember, just before it she was very restless and very clingy. We were told to wait until she had turned 1 so that all her body had developed. Since i have been told that they can also do it after 8-9 months. I would speak to your vet and see what they say!
