I have a 12 week old yorkie-poo and am looking for a front carrying pouch like a woman would have for her baby. Any ideas (apart from buying off the internet) where I could buy one from?? Thanks.

dog sling - unfortunately via the internet - http://www.ultimateanimals.co.uk/acatalog/sher pa_pet_carriers_PetARoo_Kyjen_pet_carriers_pup py_carrier_dog_rucksack.html
but why do you want to carry it? also what if you fall over?
why on earth do you want to carry it in a baby sling, thats why they have legs !!!
if you want to carry something have a baby.
She needs a carry pouch because all Yorkies are spoilt rotten
Tell me this isn't serious?
You can buy a papoose for a dog? a PAPOOSE? For a DOG?
With all due respect, I am sure that dogs were bred with fully-functioning legs for a reason. Lisa.

that is ridiculous!
What will you be doing next? changing its nappies & singing lullabys til it falls asleep?
Dogs are not made for being carried, they are not there to treat as babies!
can i just say that some people cant have kids. myself cant,
in 18months i lost the abilty to have kids, never be able to drive due to medical reasons, lost my mum and nan and im only 29. i have a toy poodle who was bred by my mum who never got to see her as she was born 2 days before my mum died suddenly. i spoil her rotten she has jumpers coats you name it shes got it. i would also love to get a sling as small dogs cant walk far and its easier to have a sling to put them in.
isnt it better to see people spoil a dog and treat them like a baby as i do then to beat them and neglect them like some.
yes my dad laughs at me cos shes my baby but he knows that she kept me here and not going with my mum.
you can also get pushchairs for small dogs. alot of people like to go on long walks but having a small dog you cant unless you carry them.
in clinic we have a human baby snuggly with the leg wholes sewn shut. It works really well for us and they can be purchased at most deparment stores that have a baby section.
What is all this about small dogs not being able to walk far? I was a dog walker for 40 years and found that small dogs had much more stamina than the larger breeds, also most small dogs are terriers and were bred for hunting etc. It really annoys me when people say they are buying a small dog because they don't need so much excersise and as for putting a dog in a pouch I think that is downright cruel, a dog needs to be running around in the countryside and meeting other dogs. Sorry to rant on but dogs are dogs not tiny people or babies!
Tiggerlit / Giggles - yes I think it is grear that you are looking after your dogs, better than be ill treated and neglected like far too many animals these days - perhaps you both didnt realise that small dogs 'can' walk just as far as a big dog. My girls are 'my babies', they have everthing they want or need (they dont have coats, although I have threatened to get them a waterproof mac for when it rains!). On the subject of doggie pushchairs - I get annoyed when I go to a dog show and exhibitors have their dogs in crates on trolleys, and cant understand why they dont let them walk - or is it fear of getting them dirty - but we all have that problem - unless someone would enlighten me as to any other reason?. I dont feel these people with crates have consideration for other exhibitors with dogs who can be frightened by them..........and, just to go on, they then have to find somewhere to put them, which takes up valuable space at the show.
A Yorkie-Poo - ??

Oh you mean a MONGREL that cost you a lot of money??

La Diva-touche ;)
TIGGERLIT, I am sorry you've had such a hard time, your dog must have provided such love and support for you, please don't get me wrong, my dog is my baby, and he is ruined! My friend can't have kids, she has 2 dogs who are her absolute life, they get everything they need and want, and are loved like you wouldn't believe!
But there has to be a line, if you treat your dog as a human baby you will possibly encourage behavioural problems, and besides that, it's just WRONG!

Little dogs can go flippin' far from what I've seen/heard, and just because they are small and cute (apparently :S ) doesn't mean they don't want to meet other dogs and have good sniff!

Lisa x
I agree with Lisa - whatever the circumstances a dog has the right to be a dog doesnt it?
in my opinion, you can treat your pet like a baby if you wish you are doing no harm to any1, by the way iv'e got a doggy pushchair for my british bulldog, and also to reply about exhibitors at dog shows with crates and trolleys i used to show west highland white terriers and the reason why we carry them on trolleys is think two dogs on leads carring 2 crates for benching area and carrying a grooming table to prepare dogs on plus all the other things like handbags pack lunch flask we have only got 1 pair of hands so much easiyer geting trolley table put the crates up and put the dogs into them and pull your trolley with evrything loaded on.
Ignore these callous dog haters giggles321. I am looking for a papoose for my "baby" dog too. She has severe bowed legs and has difficulty walking. Unlike what these idiots are saying, not all dogs can walk well and far.
As a fellow small dog owner (chihuahua) I completely understand your need. I would also like to have a front carrying pouch. Just because you want one doesn't mean you won't still take your dog for walks. Yes, I take my Sophie for walks but there are times when a pouch would be great. My Sophie cannot walk as far as a large dog and she is healthy and not overweight. It's evident she doesn't want to walk anymore when she stops, won't walk anymore and looks up at me. People who say "just a dog" don't truly understand the closeness and love between dog and owner. You see I lost two of my three teenagers in car accidents. Sophie is my little girl, my life. blessedbyGod
I don't understand why you all are being so nasty about this! It's very true, every dog needs to be walked. However, why are you judging someone when you don't know their situation? Mind your own business! Personally, I have a puppy papoose for my Pomeranian that I made myself. My husband and I have 2 young pit bulls that we walk for miles. My pom is well socialized and in good shape, but he is old and he gets tired after a mile or so. It works very well to scoop him up and carry him for the rest of the walk.
You get them so you can socialise your pup before they are allowed on the ground!!
Just because she wants a papoose dons't mean she never lets her dog walk. I work at Hobby Lobby and and dogs are allowed but they cannot be on the floor. In this case, a papoose is great because you can carry your dog comfortably and still have your hands to shop.
A second instance is for example the Wawa breed. Most are such nervous little things. Despite my wawa's love for other dogs, she is nervous in a crowed. If she were on the ground surround she would shiver like a leaf in a storm. Whereas if she meets these animals in my arms, shes a confident little booger eager to lick each ones' noses! A papoose is a great way for me to get her out in public without a all too bossy large dog tipping her over to sniff her.

A papoose is a cute, comfortable way to bring your dog along with you, allowing you your hands should you need them.

Just because you own a papoose does not mean your dog is not getting needed exercise. When you have a papoose your dog isn't ALWAYS going to be in it. The papoose is a means of more "intimate" transportation for your animal.

There are some places where having your dog on a leash is simply a nuisance and has you picking them up and carrying them away anyhow.

Don't badger this woman because she asked for a way to carry her dog more comfortably. Everyone's comments are as if she was saying, "Please help me find a bag for my dog so that I can take it's ability to walk away and carry it around to the point it never touches the ground again."

Geeze...people are so quick to criticize.
So many people and so much ignorance......still they say ignorance is bliss. There are many reasons people resort to dog papoose/carriers. I for one am still looking for one to fit my westie cross. She is almost 14 and has very poor sight and loss of hearing and does tire very quickly, but loves to be with us on walks. It's such a sad world when people criticize without sufficient information.
