I have a 9 year old Rottweiler and his teeth chatters (like he's cold) after he comes out from going to the bathroom. He does this even when it's scorching hot outside. Has any other Rottie owners experienced this?
Thanks so much for this link. From reading it, it made me think of some of the other symptoms like the urine licking. When he comes in from using the bathroom, he goes straight to his water bowl first and then he lays down and starts licking himself and then the teeth start chattering.
Just read the last line on that link I sent you! and dont want you to worry so have included this too - my female dog used to do it all the time and the vet gave me this explanation - may be worth going to your vet or talking to your breeder/rottie club if you are still worried!
Sorry - missed your answer before i sent the next bit!! My dog did exactly the same - used to lick and then chatter her teeth - thought it was weird but could almost see from her expression that she was 'enjoying' it - which is a bit yuck!! Dogs for you!!
One of my Irish Setters used to do this - sadly no longer with me. She first started when she was excited such as her dinner or going out for a walk but eventually it was her party trick and she loved the attention she gained when people not used to such behaviour commented and gave her lots of attention
