Frothing Mouth
5 Answers
Hi,
I have an 15 month old border collie and most of the time when i walk him he sort of foams at the mouth and his lips shake and quiver.
I thought it was something he ate the first time it happened, but it happens most of the time.
When we get back from the walk he is fine.
Is this anything to worry about as he doesn't have a vets appointment for a month.
Thanks

Does he get plenty fresh water when out on walkies?
I am sure other ABers can give much better answers! If it's a real concern, try and get him into the vets sooner.

Hi Lisa,
Yes, he always has access to fresh water, especially with it being hot recently.
I'm not too worried as he is always fine afterwards. I forgot to mention that he slavers too whilst foaming. Sounds horrible i know, but i just thought someone might know as i was a little worried.
It makes sense it being the smells though..
Thanks for your reply.

I have had him from being a pup so I know where he is from.
I have noticed him doing it around 8 times maybe, it's not a constant thing that happens.
There are a few female dogs in the area, but not sure if they're in season.
As I said, I have no idea... He isn't scared of anything that I know of as he quite happily runs around and stuff on his walks.
I don't know what it could be..
