Does pedigree make your dog poo more?

I have had my dog for one week and we have started to give him pedigree complete dry food. She now seems to poo a lot more and is pooing in the house which she did not do before.

Depends on what it was fed on before. Why did you change foods - in general the dearer extruded foods are utilised more and there is less waste to come out. The cheaper foods are filled with bulk to make the dogs feel full up but tends not to be full of as much goodness.

Yes I found it did ,ive two dogs and find it use to go through them in no time,change their diet a few years ago and have had no problems since,except for the odd diarrhoea which most dogs can get from time to time.

If you get more poo, then what is actually being used by the dog? Nothing because IMO pedigree sucks! Full of chemicals additives and meat derivitives. If i could do a rolly eyes icon i would! If you want to go dry, burns is the best to go for, smaller poos because all the good stuff is being used! I feed a natural diet, my dog goes once in the morning, once at night, without fail. The poos are small, white and dont stink! :-)

I was told by my vet not to give my dog Pedigree as its very rich.

We were recommended Hills. We give our dog half a tin and some mixer in the evening and just a couple of biscuits in the morning.

Her poo and digestion is so much better.

Its more likely your dog is reacting to a change in diet than to a particular food - any change should be introduced gradually!

How old is the dog? Is it a he or a she?

I agree with Lankeela - it is better to keep the dog on the food it was on previously.

What time of day do you feed?

I don't think this sounds like a food issue, more a training/insecurity issue.

do you get Eukanuba there? I know that it's quite pricey - but its the best I know of...

HI i worked at pedegree petfoods you wouldnt believe the stuff they put in the food but most of it is frozen whale meat remember chunky dog food (Whale Meat) cat food thousands of tons of fish heads skins from well known frozen fish foods they waste nothing believe me ,cat and dog buiscuits made from (Bone Meal ) with added and fish waste mixed and dried its ok it won't poison your pet i have actualy seen people in the quality controle lab taste it them selves then asked if i wanted to try ER (NO THANKS ) hope this dont put you off .

I have found pedigree chum too rich as well, gives the dogs the squits, I agree with Marvin , Eukanuba is best , good food not much waste, when your dog goes its good and firm.
