Hi, My left heel has developed a 'pulling' type pain when I put my full weight on it and is quite uncomfortable. I constantly find myself walking on tip-toe to try and lessen the sensation. The only time it doesn't tingle is when I wear high heels, therefore my weight isn't full on my heel and it feel like normal. If I try to straighten out my left leg and flex my foot it really seems to pull and puts more pressure on the heel and I get that dreadful tugging sensation, I have since stopped any fitness regime as it feels as if something could snap inside! Has anyone any idea what I have done or what I can do to remedy it? Thank you.
I've had this before. I described it as wet wool being pulled apart, thats the feeling I had, horrid. Its called Acute achilies-itis. I went to the doc and they gave me some time off work to let it rest. It is very uncomfortable. Should go to the doc's, you may get time off work :o) I got is because I was wearing heels, then changing into flat shoes for work, putting strain on my achilies tendant. x
bossychloe - Anadin extra, as long as you do not suffer from stomach ulcers! Always read the leaflet. You should also check what footwear you are using, whether as the previous post says, you are changing shoe types over the week. You ideally need to wear something like a trainer that has a good insole & light on your feet. This is what I did when I had a bout of heel pain, it can come and go, but this certainly works!
Sounds to me like the tendon at the back ouch.f your leg that runs down to your heel has shortened. This is due to wearing heels too much.
apply heat packs to make it more supple, then massage it, then stand with half your feet on a step so the heels are hanging over the edge. balance yourself, then drop your heels gradually so they are lower than the step. You should feel pulling in the tendons. This should soon stretch them out and dont wear heels so much.
If you get the feeling like there's a spike being driven up into your heel it could be plantar fasciitis which is also a problem with the tendons. It can go away on its own or it can hang around and is very painful. That one is usually worse first thing in the morning when your foot has been stretched out during the night. As soon as you put your foot into a walking position and put it on the floor it hurts like !!!!
You can get special inserts to put into shoes and generally a slight heel with some support for the arch is better than flat shoes.
