I have been watching this programme and my heart goes out to all these cats and dogs. I have 2 cats Puss is a moggie from the RSPCA he is 18 years old, my other cat Boots is 14 years old also just a moggie rescued from the Cats Protection League. My question is.....would it be ok or unfair to my cats to bring a kitten into the house, I am thinking about a rescue kitten, but do not want to upset my lovely old cats. Has anyone had experience of this kind. TIA.

As for your question , I have never had cats as I am very allergic to them even though I think they are adorable. xx

I personally don't think its a good idea to bring a kitten into the house with the Puss n Boots. I've got 2 cats (from Battersea) and they are very territorial. Whenever there is another cat in the garden they growl and go into attack mode even though normally they are very docile. God knows how they will react to a kitten.

pussnboots - I asked my vet the same question with my last old cat. He said that in theory it is a good idea, but it depends on the character of your present cats. Mine was old and grumpy and I didn't think it would work.

When he died I adopted 2 18 month old morons.

bigmamma - cats look adorable. My tom is currently behind my desk pulling on the mouse wire and trying to balance on a TFT screen. His sister is too lazy to try anything like that - but she has a mean streak and regularly injures her brother. He has been to the vet twice in the last six months with infected wounds. He never hits her back, not sure if he is a wimp or brought up not to hit girls!

They are sweet and lovely cats - but they drive me nuts.

Hi pussnboots...I dont think it would be right ,Iv three oldies and would not like them [upset] by bringing a youngster on the scene.Cats as you know get set in their ways very much like ourselves and I think it would be unfair to them.I watch the tv programme myself and would love to adopt but I think you have to not let your heart rule you head and let peace remain in your household.

If we took a kitten or another cat in our house would be like a war zone. Our moggie Tiffy is 12 and she even see's off any poor cats who dare to invade her garden! Its all about territory,a kind thought pussnboots but I would say dont do it.

Agree with all answers so far. It is so upsetting to see all these poor little pusscats who are in desperate need of a loving home...but if you took a kitten in, it would be at the expense of the happiness of your puss'n'boots. I found a dear little cat and took it home with me and my 3 cats were not at all impressed. I had to keep her shut in my back bedroom for 3 days until the CPL took her and happily rehomed her. My youngest cat who is 6 years old was so upset, he went out in the morning and would.nt come in again all day. I had an awful job getting him back in again (none of them are allowed out at night lol)so there would be no chance of me being able to take another cat into the house. No...I think you have to put your 2 first. Hopefully there will be lots of kind caring people like you who will want to rescue some of these dear little homeless mites. Lets hope so.

Thanks for all you sensible answers. I am not going to get another cat, Boots is a very placid cat and doesn't bother if strange cats wonder onto our garden, but Puss goes mad and even at his age he will see them off even though he's a bit wobbly on his back legs. So your right it would be unfair.
