My elderly mother has just lost her cavalier king charles spaniel around which her life pretty much revolved, and I wonder if anyone knows the best way to find a similar sized young adult dog for rehoming.
She's a bit long in the tooth to train a puppy and I was thinking a Westie would be a great companion, but where's the best place to look?

How about your local dog recue centre, there must be one near to you and they are always needing homes for their dogs.Good luck and its nice to hear of some one doing a good turn for the neglected.g
You can find loads of dogs at ant England match.Just look for the WAGS.
Depends a lot on where you live. The local RSPCA is usually a good bet, but there are loads of animal sanctuaries around the country. Are you in Wales? If so, I could point you in the direction of a few, or if you're in the west - country, Bath Cats & Dogs home is another one.
i Have an 11 year old tri-colour male , his name is Bingo, he barks at every knock at the door and so is a good guard dog, he eats anything, especially if it is in your fridge or the bin, he can go out for walks on his own, especially when the binmen leave the gate open, he is very good at ignoring you when you go away on holiday and leave him, he has two facial expressions, 'who do you think you are talking to' and ' not a chance'. he is very loving and friendly, you can pick him up anytime you like. :))
Try secondchancekennels.org
They have centres or connected to centres all over Britain.
Good Luck.
