Hi I have an older dog who seems to have sinus condition. At first I thought it was the grass clippings when I let him outside. Is it possible he could be allergic to the grass. He seems worse when he comes into the house after being outdoors.

My old boy had a sinus condition - epistaxis - and due to his age and other conditions he was suffering from, we could not warrant surgery. To keep him comfortable and help his breathing the vet recommended using a menthol spray around the house, and I found one called Bio Air from stock nutrition, which we still use now, great for colds, leaves a lovely fresh smell around the house - but do use sparingly, as it is very strong, one bottle lasts us nearly 6 months, and I spray it in the bedroom every night. It is the last product on the link below.

ah bless, it could be the same condition my boy had if it has only just become apparent. You could try giving him Kwai garlic capsules and/or echinacea too. I am a sucker for herbal medicine and have a book on remedies to treat any condtion you can think of !!
I am sure you will find the bio air will help him - stock nutrition sell on ebay too, but it isnt any cheaper than buying from them direct by telephone or online.

hi elizabeth, sounds like a hayfever type alergy, ive had 2 dogs that sufferd with this, my vet suggested piriton tablets (yes the human ones you can buy over the counter!) i give eddie (my 20kg dog) 2-3 tablets a day when hes sufferering, they work a treat and unlike humans on these pills they cause no drowsyness in dogs, its a common alergy for them and i know of at least 10 other dogs in the area who take piriton in the hayfever season
