dirty kittens

I have recently aquired 2 kittens from a rescue home. they were about 4 months when i got them and now coming up to 6 months. Since letting them out into the garden they use my lawn as a toilet! Ugh Never had cats that do this before, have 3 children , so this is not good. Will they clean up their act once neutured?

I would wait for them to use their litter tray inside then put the contents of it outside where you would like them to poo to try and encourage them to go there instead.

This may sound silly, but have you got flower beds or soil for them to wee & poo in, as some gardens only have a patio &/or lawn.

If not, p'raps you could make a place for them to go to the toilet, but as tigwig says, this would only be after they've used the litter tray, then eventually placing that outside.

They are animals funny enough. Short of training them to use the loo what do you expect them to do.If you can provide an area of fresh soil in a tub or a box. That might help. Otherwise stick to kids not animals.

Pagan, my aunt's siamese used to go in her toilet!!! Leaving poo uncovered is usually a male thing for cats. Neutering is a controversial subject. Personally, I think if you have two male cats to leave them wandering about breeding kittens, as is their nature, is not a good thing. Being a dog person myself I find the "cat's poo anywhere so put up with it" school of thought unacceptable. I have to pick up my dog poo, so they do it when told. Good luck
