Kennel cough

My dog is going into kennels at the end of this month and I have been advised to get him vaccinated against kennel cough. He caught kennel cough (which lasted a couple of weeks) from a neighbour's dog in November and I'd assumed this would give him immunity. Am I wrong to assume this: is it better to get the vaccination done?

Yes it is mahonia, but you need to get it done two/three weeks before your dog goes into kennels.

Even though your dog has had kennel cough before, he can get it again. It's a bit like the cold or the flu - we just keep getting them! This is why kennels will require a vaccination, even if your dog has already suffered KC.

I agree with garner and Noweia.
When I got my pup out of a rescue centre in mid December she had kennel cough (which lasted about 5 weeks unfortunately). Now I want to take her to socialisation classes and my vet has told me that she will need to be vaccinated for kennel cough.
Also, as far as I am aware, many kennels won't accept a dog that hasn't been vaccinated against kennel cough so I would check it out with your vet as soon as possible because as garner says, you should have it done 2-3 weeks in advance.

The KC vaccination only six months too..........and they can still get the dreaded cough like my lot did, two went to a show and obviuosly bought it back with them and it spread to all of them, but as they were vaccinated it wasnt as bad as it could have been. I gave them manuka honey twice a day, and I think it helped.
