Constipated Cat

My fat, lazy tomcat gets very constipated. It get very painful and he can't poop. We're off to the vets tomorrow to get him cleaned out, again.

He eats food pouches, never drinks water and gets lactulose twice a day. Is there anything more I can do for him?

Both my monsters are pretty regular with their bowel movements.

I am sorry to hear that your thug is having this very painful problem.

It is a shame that he can't be taught that drinking loads will stop him from having sore bums. It makes me cringe to think about having to get cleaned out.

Maybe meat flavoured water would go down nicely - or add gravy to his pouches. Treat him like a kiddie who won't eat veggies and add the water without him noticing.

Poor wee fat, lazy, stupid soul will be a sore wee boy tomorrow!

I find my cats love having tuna juice added to their water. They dont have a problem drinking loads, but it always goes alot faster with tuna juice in it :)

Da Big Falla is back from the vets.

He's had a vet's fat finger up his bum, he's had an enaema and - to add insult to injury - they shaved his backside. You've got to picture a big, black longhair who turns round to show his bare backside. Not sure whether it was really necessary, might have been student rag week.

He's groggy from the anaesthtic, but happy and very cuddly tonight.

So wiggal, what's tuna juice and will the fishmonger larf if I ask him for some?

Tuna juice to my moggies is literally the juice from tins of tuna! Whenever I use it for my dinner, I always squeeze the juice from the tin into the water bowl!

My lot love it, and for them it is very diluted, as I have 7 cats and their water bowl is actually a casserole dish!

Also, one thing to give him as a treat to try, is a raw egg egg and a tin of tuna mixed together! My lot go nuts for it, may not help with him drinking water, but it goes down well!

Big Fella ia a fat beggar but, being a typical cat, he knows that he can annoy you for days and then give you five minutes of cuteness that make you say 'Ah. Whatta cat'.

So wiggal, sorry if I'm being thick, but do you mean tuna with sunflower oil or with brine or something else?

Hope your cats are fine and dandy. What kind of cats have you got? Why are other peoples cats perfectly behaved, whereas your own are always little beggars?

We buy tuna in brine and they have that.
I dont know wether its because they know that if they dont get any, there wont be any left, but my lot wolf down anything and everything!
Pretty much all leftovers go to the cats, and what the cats dont eat goes to the dog!

My lot drive me round the bed, especially at the mo as we have a 11 week old puppy, so they are forever tearing round the house!
But yes, everyone elses cats seem like angels to mine!!

Will try the tuna in brine trick, but cats can be so fussy with their food. Wonder if Harrods is still open?

Maybe he is needing to catch a mouse or bird every day or so to make his old digestive tract do some work.

Princess Merlin and Frankie were born in a barn as feral kitties. Merlin is mainly black and has really thick, long hair and an attitude problem. Naomi Campbell of the cat world - beautiful with a nasty temper. She is looking for a man-cat. When your boy manages to grow hair on his bum would he be interested?

Her brother, Frankie, wants to marry his sister off so that he can be king of the household and not be beated up so often.

Da Big Fella is is a flat cat, but could probably do with some contact with the outside world. Would it be too much if I went out looking for mice for him?

He's currently hiding in his cardboard box. I s'pose it wouldn't be too cruel if I just parcelled him up and sent him off to you. Does Naomi come with a cat dowry? Would you be willing to take over DBF's belly-tickling duties?

If he moved in then Frankie would no longer be the only man cat. I couldn't do that to my wee lamb. He has a lovely personality...just like a big kitten.

Is Da Big Fella his real name? I call Merlin Princess Merlin as Merlin isn't a really girly name. She would whack your fella into shape. She has beaten up her brother so badly that he has had to go to the vet. Massive paws.

Please don't give your cats tuna in brine. It has too much salt and is really bad for them. You can give them tuna in oil, as the oil is good for their coat, or else buy tuna in springwater and give them that.
