anti climb paint

Hi can any one help me please ?
I have a neighbour who really hates my moggies and a while ago my neighbour put some anti cat spikes on top of her fence to deter my cats walking on her fence,
I then at some cost to me erected my own fence adjacent to hers to solve the problem.
She has now covered her fence with anti climb paint on the top my cats use her fence to get out of my garden.
This fence is only 5 1/2 foot in places .
My cats were covered in the stuff this morning ! and they got it all over , I tried to wash them as best I could but it dosn't solve the problem because the anti climb paint lasts years !! so i'm expecting more of the same !
Her house is council owned can I do anything about this?

keep your cats in, or provide them an alternative way of getting in and out

Could try contacting the Housing Dept of the Council and ask them whether she's allowed to put this paint on their fence.

We have 12 cats living in just 3 houses very near ours,the cats do all there toileting in my garden and i have spent hundreds of pounds trying to deter them,i have been at my wits end.Why should other people clean up after your cats,its not fair and if this is why your neighbour is going to such measures then i support her 100%,i will probably try this myself,thanks for the tip.

Think bednobs needs to understand what cats are like.

I think the best thing to do would be explain to your jobsworth neighbours the mess your cats had got into as a result of the anti climb paint. Explain about possible knock on effects like carpets ruined etc.

If this gets you nowhere you will need to stop your cats climbing the fence where the anti climb paint has been put.

I understand about the cats toileting and thats why I provide a litter tray for them !
I can't train the cats not to climb the fence it's not feasable.
Cat's have the protection of the right to roam.
My moggies have been nutered so it's not that it is that she just does not want them walking on her fence !

Well i'll have to wait for the council to contact me.

Hi caron, I too am plagued with cats, as a non cat lover , i prefer birds in my garden I too will go any lengths to deter any moggies coming in to my garden, I have tried them all , carpet grippers on the top of all the fences deter all but the most determined cat , it doesn't hurt them, it is just uncomfortable for them to walk on , if all else fails a good soaking wih the hosepipe does the trick ....well it makes me feel better anyway .....

hi im trying to keep my cats in the garden even though there is woods near by but there main roads all around and already a few casualty's so there are a few ideas starting with the least expensive and easiest first there are strips of garden wire on small pickets at an inward angle attached to the top of the fence and then there is a role of small square fence rolled up and attached to the top of the fence but only at the bottom of the role this make s it unstable when the cats try to climb and unable to support there weight and then there is an electric fence but an animal one not one from prison break low voltage rabbit one is ideal

Buy yourself a cat run so you can contain your cats in your own yard. I wish my neighbours did this and were more responsible with their cats. I don't mind cats but don't want them in my yard! They crap all over my lawn and in my garden beds, knock over and break my flower pots, attack my children's pets, spray urine all over the place to the point I can't even open the windows, kill birds and leave the remains spewed all over my yard and cats fighting at all hours of the night waking me up is not appreciated either. One cat in particular that has be desexed has a litter tray in the house and it still craps all over the place because its marking its territory. I have (at my own expense) bought ultra sonic devices to keep it away from my kids pets to no avail, sprayed it with the hose several times and the damn thing keeps coming back, I'm now looking into buying spikes to go on top of the fence to keep it out. The owner of this cat has been spoken to on several occasions and the response is "the cat has personality" and nothing is done about it. Why should anyone who doesn't want cats on their property have to go to the expensive of keeping them out? It should be the owners responsibility to keep their cats contained in their own yard. The only way I know this can be achieved is with a cat run or to keep the cat indoors permanently. If for whatever reason this can not be done, then you shouldn't own a cat.

It makes me laugh how some people think its acceptable to be annoyed that a neighbour doesn't want someone elses cats in their garden!! I have a cat myself but I keep her inside with a litter tray and she is quite happy. I do this because I don't want her fouling someone elses garden like my neighbours cats do to mine!! They are a nusiance as they foul my garden, go after my poor rabbits and cause all the other neighbours the same distress. Im forever chasing them out of my garden as my 3 year old son has a bird feeder and he always asks if the birds have come but of course they haven't cause of those dreaded cats. The best cure for your cats would be to give them to the cat home if you can't keep them in your own garden!! I will also be trying the anticlimb paint now!
