Rescue cat update.. Flossy !!!

Hi

A few weeks ago I posted a story about a stray cat that was pregnant and I trapped and took her to an animal rescue centre for her birth. She lost her kittens, but as a family we decided to keep her as ours.

We have had her 3 weeks now and she is a complete joy. She took a week or so to recover from the operation and initially slept most of the time. Slowly, she has got her personality back and is amazing.

She became frustrated at being cooped up inside tso after 2 weeks indoors, we took her to the vet and got her chipped, flee'd and wormed..

Flossy has been out now for a week or so, only for an hour or so at a time but always comes home.

She is so clean, and only uses her tray if its raining and cant go out... she uses her scatch post and to be perfectly honest ... to quote mary poppins. " she is practically perfect in every way"

I have never owned a cat before now, and I cant believe how much fun it is. She is awesome...my kids adore her and she is spoilt rotten.

Oh, when she cme to us, she only weighed 2.7 kilos... she is now a healthy 3.7kilos


I just thought you might want to hear a happy ending story!!!

Awwww, what a lovely story Jo..... thanks for sharing it with us. Don't forget to get Flossy sorted out on the flea front before the warm weather sets in (eg Front Line - available from chemists, vets and pet stores) or you won't be too happy with sharing your life with other critters lol....

Did you know that you can get some great toys for cats ? The really *ahem* fun ones contain catnip (some cats seem to get a bit *high* on the stuff lol) or you can just make your own. My own cats used to love a strip of newspaper rolled and folded up, then attached to a piece of string which you held in your hand .... you just had to throw the *toy* onto the floor and wiggle the string, to see the cat have great fun *catching* the lure..... (this was particularly good fun with the lights switched off or down really low).

Another toy was a ball of left over kit kat wrappers (the aluminium foil sort), thrown down the stairs.... one of my cats used to love to pounce upon the ball, grab it in her mouth, hurtle back to me and gracefully deposit it at my feet, hoping I would throw it down the stairs again...

Thanks for your update Jo, so pleased she has settled in well you will have many happy hours with your new girl.Just a bit of advice...Don't forget to get her defurem from your pet store just in case she gets fur balls you can get it in Rabbit flavour if she will not lick it off your finger put some on her paws,she will then lick it off.And of course she will need her yearly jab for the usual dreaded diseases.Good luck and happy days ahead.g.

It's so good to hear a really happy story - she has found a lovely home and you have a wonderful pet. Cats are brilliant company and I hope you have as many happy years with her as I have had with my Flossie (she's 18 now)
