Hi, I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in pets, so I'll do both. My cat eats cat food but she nearly always sicks it up again. I noticed that when she ate food I cook for her i.e. kidneys, liver she's never sick. The other day I gave her some liver and put some gravy from a packet of cat food on it and she loved it. My question is this: I cook the kidneys in a casserole dish just with some water. How can I make her a nice gravy? Obviously she won't like bisto and things like that. Thank you.
I'm not sure you can make gravy without some meat juices and fat - if anyone has a recipe that doesn't involve this (or bisto) I'd also be interested to hear it.
I have the water in which the kidneys have cooked - I was wondering how to make it into a gravy similar to the gravy in the sachets of cat food. I want to make the kidneys or liver more appetizing by having gravy with it, but gravy that cats like. In other words, making that water into more of a gravy.
Thank you, I'll certainly try that. I cooked the kidneys today and sort of semi-mashed them in some of the cooking water and juices and that was OK too, although quite messy! I'll do it gently in the processor next time.
You sound like a nice, caring person. Don't take offence but I think you should think outside the box. your cat's digestive system is not far removed from the lion or the tiger. You should be giving the cat raw food, although it might take some getting used to if the cat is used to cooked/ tinned food.
