Lyme Disease

Does anyone know about the symptoms and effects of Lyme Disease please?
Or know of someone who has had it?
We have a relative who it appears may have contacted this and is currently being diagnosed, but as it is not as well known about in the UK as in America[where it is apparently rife] it is a relatively new illness .....
Many thanks in advance for any answers....

I had not heard of the disease until I read about his being a sufferer. He obviously wasn't too keen to talk about the condition in detail, but I guess his high profile as a musician will highlight the disease to people who otherwise would know nothing about it.

jenna ,andy-hughes and tups ,thank you all for your replies...it is interesting to see how it affects different people ..this relative was bitten many years ago and had a lot of the symptoms and it has only just been diagnosed ,after yearsof ill - health and endless visits to the doctors! Not much was known about it then in the UK but I understand it is on the increase here!
It does appear it needs treating in the early stages with antibiotics as severe problems can set in if left !
