Filter for tropical tank

Hi, i have just purchased a 200 litre tank but i need to now get a filter and air pump. i have been looking at various websites but i havent a clue which one will do the job best. i have the tank in living room so i can see the fish (when i get them) so i dont want anything to noisy that will make me need the loo every few minutes or a filter that i wont be able to hear the t.v over. please help

Hi deanneb,
I have just replaced my pump in my tank as it was too noisy.

I now use a Fluval 205, it's an external pump/filter, really quiet and the water has never looked so clear. Even the fish look healthier. They are really easy to maintain as well. There are different size filters depending on the volume of your water.

have a read up on them on the web. Plenty of articles around.
a filter under the gravel works best.
Oh no it don't tombrandy....icemaidens advice is good....stick to an internal or external power filter and fluval or eheim is as good a make as you'll get.
