tips on tortoises

My man really wants a tortoise, and I was thinking of getting him one for his birthday, has anyone ot any general advice on how and where to keep them and about hybernating, thanks in advance!

best advice i can give is ( Google ) tortoise

there are loads of sites about them

but remember a tortoise ( is ) for life and not just Christmas

Apparently they are quite expensive, as it is (I believe) illegal to import them and they are hard to rear in this country. Try popping into your local vet, they're usually a mine of information about where people can obtain pets that require rehousing, often quite exotic animals let alone tortoises

start here, they are nice pets but need very specialist care

and make sure you keep your greenhouse door shut ours has been in and helped his self to the cucumbers
