Why does my dog lay flat on her stomach with her back legs stretched out and front legs stretched out and bobs her head up and down and move sideways or forward

stretched out and front legs stretched out and bobs her head up and down and move sideways or forward. She is a Terrier mixed she looks like a boston terrier but i dont know

My dogs do this, I call it the squashed frog impression.

Apparently some old breeds of terriers had the ability to do this so they could get down rabbit holes and back out easily, without dislocated their back legs.

One of my partner's mum's Staffies does that, it looks so cute.

When he's in that position and the underside of his heels are stroked, he rolls onto his back, wanting his tummy tickled.

My westie used to do this - I like lankeela's suggestion. There could be some truth in it.

The above may have some truth to it I am not sure but I was told that dogs do this to cool down on the floor as their skin on their bellies is thinner and less covered with hair . . .
