any ideas on what im likely to pay for stitches etc for my cat. she has been attacked by a monstrous cat that keeps coming round our house and it was swollen up then the scratch burst so we cleaned it up and it seemed like it was starting to heal but she has scatched it the wee tinker and now itss bigger than before so think it needs a stitch. just wondering how much im lookin at when i take her to vets tomorrow?

It seems to have been an abscess. Your cat will probably need a course of antibiotic tablets, that is if you can manage to give them to the cat. It is usually one morning and one evening, If you feel you can't manage to get the cat to take them, tell the vet and he/she can give the cat an injection of a long lasting antibiotic. Although you have cleaned up the site, infection could still be there which would make the wound fill up again, or weep. One of my cats had the same thing, and in addition to the antibiotics, I had to keep the open wound clean, just with warm water and lint, and apply an antibiotic powder to assist the healing which took just over a week. It is highly unlikely that the wound would be stitched. I shouldn't think it would cost more than 25 to 30, depending of course on the vet surgery you use. Hope all goes well tomorrow. A report on puss's progress would be nice. Schutz.

Max my GSD has an abscess on his side which burst the Vet lanced and cleaned it and gave him a course of anti-biotics, (25) Unfortunately this didnt clear it and tomorrow he's going in to be knocked out so they can get into it properly at a cost of about 200 including medication
