Hi, my mum has just been bought 2 budgies, she has had them before but we are not too sure what foods they should avoid eating, is there a site that maybe gives you a list of both what they can and cant eat. Thanks in advance.

A basic mixed budgie seed mix together with clean water, cuttlefish and some oyster grit should be available at all times. An daily extra of some sort of vegetable is often nibbled on. Any vegies you can safely eat, a budgie can eat.
The main problem with pet budgies is that as they get older they get obese and die a premature death. If they can be let out for exercise and playtime they will be a lot happier and healthier.

I`d just like to tell you about my pet bird, though it`s not a Budgie, it`s a small parrakeet, pink in the main, and one of the sweetest little birds you can get. Most people who see it say they thought it was a budgie because of it`s size which is the same. It`s actually a `Bourke Parrekeet` and is native to Australia and I actually found it flying, or rather shivering one year in a tree outside my house during the winter. I have tried to find the owner to no avail, so she has lived in a cage in my front room, to which she is allowed to have complete freedom during the day, but prefers to stay on top of a wall unit until she gets `peckish` and flies into her cage when she wants. I feed her with Trill and millet mainly, with the occasional piece of walnut, which she loves, also honey and mixed seed bars from any pet shop. Hop (sorry...hope) this hasn`t bored you too much, but I just had to intervene.
