Guinea pig - something in fur!

I have 2 guinea pigs - both male, and one of them has had this horrible sticky/clumpy mess in his fur for a while. It is right at the bottom of his back and almost feels glue-like. I've tried brushing it out with no success and have bathed it and tried to rub it out but it just wont budge. They live together and yet the other one has pure fur! Does anyone have any suggestions of what might clear it up? Thanks

I don't know what it is but you could try cutting it out. I often cut my ginnys hair when its all matted.
I'm with Jane. Guineas fur can easily get matted, so the best thing is to gently cut it out. We use to do it all the time for awkward knots.

Then you can examine it more carefully.

If it is right at the back near the bum, you need to be careful that they dont have wet tail, which can be nasty, and you can get maggots in it.

Thank-you. I did try to cut some of the fur but it's not easy with a wriggly pig! Hopefully I'll try and clean it again when he's gotten over the ordeal of yesterday when he was being cleaned!
Try giving him a carrot to munch on while you groom him. It may prove enough of a distraction. Often worked for us with ours.
