Having just returned from Murcia, I am disgusted the way the Spanish people allow their dog to foul the pavements, we were unfortunate enough to have waste ground infront of us because of the fall in building work, this was used as a "dog toilet", they were there at all hours, happily chatting to one another, the people, not the dogs..lol, or on their mobile phones, while Fido was happily crapping , we were infested with flies, which is no wonder ,anyone know how I could get in touch with the Spanish enviromental dept....seriously, but then I would have to change the language!!!
my rant...thank you

Joy...no rant....a very good point.

Here in Menorca, there are signs up, and it is not too bad.

Murcia was 36degC I think.

P.S Why is that under News Joy?
Ahhh .... but can the dogs read 'em, Sqad? [:o)

wasn't sure where to put it Sqads, Hi mrs chappie
s there a section for dogs crapping...lol
Mrs C...you are so sharp today..:;)
Question Author
it isn't the dogs, but their " couldn't give a toss" owners
Joy....quite right.
Question Author
I suppose I could have posted it in Animals and Nature...
It's just the way they are in Spain and in other countries too. They have a different culture over there and as visitors we have to accept it. They let there dogs roam the streets day and night and have loads of strays. The Spanish generally don't seem to care a toss. Neither did we a few decades back.

I have also had to step over dead dogs and cats in the street over there.

everyone we saw Loftie, was on a lead with their owners or perhaps a dog walker as some had abot 3/4 with them, you would think they clean up their act for the sake of tourism and their economy
Howdy Joy & all!

Lottie, that sounds horrendous.

Sorry, must dash, hope to catch y'all later! xxx
I realise that dogs on leads in Spain mess all over the place. To the Spanish that is quite normal and to be honest, must as I don't like it when I am over there I just accept it is there way. I am an 'older' lady and can remember when things were just the same here. The Spanish attitude is quite different and they do so well with tourism I don't think they care whether it offends the Brits or not. As I said, it's just the same in loads of other countries.

They would just laugh if you complained and think you were strange!

Just watch where you walk Bobbisox!! ;o)
PS The worse place I have ever been to for dog sh1t was Rome. However that was some years ago. It was absolutely horrendous. The whole city was covered in it - sort of spoilt the splendour of it all!!
Question Author
yes, thanks for that Lottie, I am a "older" ladt too and yes, they pobs don't care a toos anyway, they hae the sun, we haven't so they have the upper hand...lol
We sold our permanent caravan on a well known site a few years ago because of our annoyance of people letting their dogs cr?p just outside our door. Their were doggie bins available but they chose not to use them. And that is the UK.
The Spanish would certainly falling about laughing at me walking around with a little plastic bag full of poo after taking my dogs out!!
A couple of years ago we went to Tenerife and stayed a bit away from the usual tourist area. The streets were full of dog mess and a couple of times I walked in it, in sandals too!
Lottie is quite right that it used to be the case here too, and unfortunately still is in some smaller towns where the council doesn't prosecute those that don't clean up after their dog.
I have often offered a 'poo bag' to a person who appears not to care who cleans up as long as it's not them; and I've had a lot of abuse for my trouble as well.

I t just annoyed me when I saw them strolling leisurely and having a natter while their dogs squatted, many of the local kids seem to play on there too, errrrgh!!!
When we went out at night, it was like dodging the stains on the paths, I was a dog owner but I would like to think, a responsible one at that.
PS. I carefully wrapped up an offending doggy poo in two polythene bags and, there being no bins available, put in in my handbag. I found it about a week later still in my handbag!!
