Fish Eggs

Just noticed yesterday that a fish has laid eggs in my tank, woop woop initially. However now that fatty the fantail is eating them like bloody see through maltesers what can I do to protect my potential offspring?

My nephew used to have an aquarium and he used to put a piece of perspex to seperate off the end of the tank so that the eggs (and very small fish) were kept apart from the bigger fish so that they did not get eaten. Wait until they are big enough to fend for themself and then they can be all together again.

The easiest way is to remove the (gold?)fish from the tank and transfer them to new housing. If one of your fish is a male and they spawned properly, the eggs should hatch within one week depending on the temperature, when they will look like very small transparant slivers stuck to the glass and plants. If the eggs are not fertile they will turn opaque in a few days.

Thanks for those guys. I put a breeding net over the top of the largest and closest together batches of eggs. Lo and behold all gone by this morning! Never mind they'll have to try again. The difficulty is I don't know what fish spawned so can't separate them out into a breeding area. Hey ho life's like that I suppose. Thanks again
