I today lost the diamond from my engagment ring, and totally burst out crying. I have been married 14 years and engaged 16 so it has made me really sad. My hubby just cuddled me and said he would buy me another better one. But thats not the point it was really sentimental to me we got it at Hatton Garden (it was not v expensive about £250 then) but it was a really special day when we decided to get engaged. I cant stop crying. Am I overreacting? I just feel so sad. I dont think a new ring will be as special even if it is more expensive.

If you can't stop crying over it then yes, I'd say it was a tad over- reacting (sorry)

Would I be upset if this happened to me? Yes, and like you, i'd be of the thought that another ring wouldn't be the same, no sentimental value etc. But I'd like to think that I'd eventually stop crying over it.
it's very sad. my sister lost the diamond from her ring a couple of years ago.

I know it's not much consolation, but it may be covered by your house contents insurance. a word of warning.. my sister's wasn't as she lost the stone. they said if she'd lost the whole ring it would have been covered... she is in Australia, if that makes any difference!
No you're not over-reacting more because of the sentimental value than anything else. If your husband is going to get you another ring make that day special too.
if it has sentinental value to it then buying new one won't do it, is there no chance you can find it or maybe get a jewller to oput a new stone in the old setting?
BOO, I suspect she will stop at some stage ;o)
I lost the centre diamond out of my ring a few years back, and found it three days later in the carpet just outside the bathroom. I was very upset too until I found it.

Yes B00 I have stopped crying... I suppose I am just being silly and sentimental. At the end of the day I have a gorgeous husband. Puts things into perspective really:))

No I don't think you are overreacting, it is a very precious stone for you. Bringing back so many loving memories and so on. Have a new one by all means if you want one , would it not be possible to replace the stone in the original? For me it wouldn't even need to be a real diamond as long as I could still wear the ring.Best of luck.
Naww yummy, you aren't being soft and sentimental, well ok, maybe just a bit ;-) But aren't most of us? I'd be equally as upset if I lost mine.

McFluffy's idea is a good one, is it viable to do that?

And glad you've finally stopped crying....lol
Pull a pair of tights over the nozzle of your vacuum cleaner and vacuum all the floors in your house. You never know, you just might find it. Good luck.
Repeat this till you find your stone.......

"Dear St Anthony, please show me where I have lost my diamond and I will help the next person who asks."
