Lupus (systemic lupus erythematous - is non-orgain speific autoimmune disease. Although largely genetic there are "variants" but these are all related to drug reactions and complex interactions of syndromes... So in a nutshell.. No

No one is sure how one gets Lupus (it doesn't seem to be inherited, according to the information I've been given), it most certainly is not contagious from person to person.  Some interesting Lupus facts:  nine out of 10 Lupus patients are women, and six out of those nine are women of color.

I was diagnosed with SLE in 1989, and no one else in my family has it...nor have I transmitted it to anyone else!  <g>

For all medical questions, we strongly advise you to seek professional advice from your doctor or a healthcare professional.  Please do not rely on, or wait for, advice from Answerbank users.
To add to everyones comments - no. The mother of a very good friend has this condition and Ouisch mentioned that most sufferers are women- notably women of colour (black/asian?). My friends mother fits into both these categories- she's asian.
