Allergy sticky ears in dog
Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.
thanks

It's up to my ankles here, and I did try to take a pic but my camera went flat. Still, I expect that being one step away from a fossil you all know what snow looks like ...<ducks> :o)
It was quite an expedition to go and feed the birds but they seemed very grateful. I've had a fieldfare jumping up and picking berries from a cotoneaster!! I know to you country bumpkin types they're probably ten a penny but it's the first time I've ever seen one in the garden. :o)
Oh dear, no footy Jude...s'pose we'll just call it 3-0 to Forest then

Neti play nice and stop sulking.
I am bored fed up and pizzed off with being a coper. Just for one time, I would like to be a fluffy little thing and have everyone run around after me. Actually I would probably hate it. Just fed up with people saying they will deal with things then not doing it then I have to do it. It's okay it's not family letting me down, just associates of DH who couldn't organise an orgy in a brothel.

Yes, stop stamping neti or you'll be out the back in the naughty kennel.
woofy what you said about being a coper is almost word for word the same thing I've said several times. I'm always telling my sister I'm going to go pink and fluffy. I know women who'd never cope alone but d'ya know what, they wouldn't have to because someone would just come along and take over....makes ya sick dun't it? haha. No, not really, I daresay I'd hate it too. My saying is 'the more you can cope with, the more life gives you to cope with'.
KBO woofy...and be satisfied knowing you're a tough biddy. :o)

I AM being nice, he's the sulker, I hate people who sulk, but have noticed that 3 cancerians in my life all sulk. I like a good shout and then it's over, not him! I apologised for telling him to f*** off (yes I know and at my age!!) but he was supposed to put a blind up at hija's window with the drill instead of the piece of string which is holding it up at the moment, and this blind is important cos it stops the rain from entering her window. The house is falling apart around my ears and he won't let me get near a drill or ladder so cannot do much to it.
Excuse me
<<< wanders off into the doghouse >>>
SCREAM!!!

Sometimes I'm pleased I live on my own and can cope really well with it. Well organised financially and otherwise but there are times when i would give anything for some male company. I've lived on my own for 30 years except for 2 of them when I had a 'blip' during the menopause. Steady was at home then and one day I asked him 'what can I do I'm so unhappy' and he say tell him to F off. So I did (not literally) and that was that. I did have a man friend for about 15 years but we never lived together ever. We still are friends but that's all and we never go anywhere together. So you see I'm used to sorting things out myself or paying someone to do them for me.
I have a couple of men friends who I meet for lunch now and again but they have partners and we are just friends which I'm happy with.
Neti I bet you'll be friends before the day is over. I hope so anyway.
Right Robi match off and I have my doubts about us losing 3 - 0. If Forest do beat us when we play I'll treat you. That's a promise.
I'm having a Dylan day today. Playing my CDs in Age order starting with the oldest. He writes some lovely words about love and life. He doesn't really have to sing for me. I have stacks of A4 sheets with the words of his songs I have printed off.
Of foe a cuppa now and pot washing. Laters gaters...
