I have had this problem with mine, and put it down to them getting too much rich food, so that they are producing more soft poo than they should. By rich food I mean the pellet / cereal type food which should only be given in small quantities, with hay being the main part of the diet and an odd treat of veg. I would imagine they are being spoilt and dont need to eat the soft poo as they have more than enough nutrition from their food
Is it possible that the enclosure that the rabbits are in is too small? Both type of pellets are 'deposited' in different areas so as not to be conteminated. In a cage or small run the rabbits often get confused as the whole encosure smells like the end product.

thankyou wildwood but i dont think it is that, they have a large 2 story cage and it is cleaned every day they even refuse to use a dirt tray [little devils lol]
having never owned rabbits, this is something I've never heard of - is the soft motion necessary to keep a level of bacteria in the stomach to aid in digestion etc or does it have some other purpose ??

and I managed not to mention poo either [ oh flopsy daisy !!]
I have had this problem with mine, and put it down to them getting too much rich food, so that they are producing more soft poo than they should. By rich food I mean the pellet / cereal type food which should only be given in small quantities, with hay being the main part of the diet and an odd treat of veg. Since I reduced the pellets my bunies are slimmer (which helps with the consumption of the soft poo straight from the backend) and there is no soft poo left for them to trample in. Hope this helps.
