A bitch will only bleed for the first part of her season, then when the bleeding eases or turns a straw colour rather than bright red she will be approaching the time when she is receptive to a dog. Then you need to keep her away from any males (although it seems you are not bothered about her getting pregnant). If she is still bleeding after a couple of weeks or after being mated then I would have her at the vets as she might have pyometra which is a life threatening condition and needs treating urgently if the bitch is not to die.

bitches cannot get pregnant (or rather will not allow a dog to mate) while she is still bleeding. her fertile time is after the bleeding has stopped, and she will remain fertile for roughly 7-10 days after this. However, from the post you have put i am not sure if you want her to catch or not. please ensure that you have read up on dogs and whelping, as it is not as easy as it looks ! believe me !
