Rehoming cats - Just gets worse :-(
27 Answers
Hey all,
Well I posted before about having to rehome 2 of my cats, well Mr Wiggal and I split up at the weekend after 6 years, and he wants all the animals gone and rehomed ASAP. Now, everytime I think of this I seem to completely fall apart which is making things rather difficult, and I dont know where too start really!
I dont want them to go to rehoming centres, and I am asking round at work for people to ask people they know so I can be sure they have gone to good homes and I can keep in contact with their new owners.
I guess Im not really asking anything as such, just how can this be made easier for me then it is seeming at the minute?
My worst nightmare is that he finds a home for them, and I dont get to see them before they go.
Could really do with a hug right now! :-(

I'm trying so hard not to keep crying about it at the minute as I am at work! Not that I am much use here but it is better then being sat at home on my own all day!
My boss has said he will take on whichever cat is the closest or my special cat so I can see her whenever I like (that will be Cefa), as she is very special to me and is also bald!! A friend of mine at work is also calling round and has spoken to my old boss who already has 2 cats of mine from when we had kittens, and her brother is interested apparently.
It isn't just the cats though, I have 2 of the most beautiful dogs who I need to rehome aswell, Ashke my Samoyed and Cleo my spaniel/terrier cross.
He has asked me to go and pick up some stuff from the house this evening which means I will see them all, and it is going to be so hard.

He has said he wont get rid of any of them without me knowing, but he wants them out ASAP as he is planning to move out as soon as he can.
It has come as a shock pretty much, even though it was my choice to leave and end it if that makes sense!
We have been together along time since I was 17, and I think we grew apart, but it took something to happen this weekend for me to realise it.

Oh Wiggal I am so very sorry. Sending you lots and lots of hugs.
If you could just try and keep just one of your pets though it might help you to get through things as well as that pet. When I had to leave an ex very quickly under very difficult circumstances about 7 years ago, he agreed to look after her for a week. Thereafter she had to go. I was practically living in the car so I was lucky that a friend's mum agreed to take her in for a month in which time I managed to find a house to rent which would take a couple of cats.
Have you tried contacting local vets and asking if there are people who can "foster" an animal for a few weeks until you find somewhere you can go and perhaps have one or two of them back?
You could try the Cats Protection League or the Dogs Trust. Most have "local" contacts who you could discuss it with. I am sure they would help on a temporary basis.

Samoyed Rescue chief co-ordinator lives in Hertfordshire.
Linda Brasier Hertfordshire 01442 877027 Breed Rescue are best suited to rehoming Sams.
She will advise on options. If no joy send me your contact details to [email protected] and I will pass on to someone who I know might be able to help short term but she is in Lincolnshire. I could probably arrange transport in an emergency.

Hi,I'm new so dont know whats what or who's who,but I cant understand why the pets need rehoming? If you've split up cant you have them? Some animal charity's such as "Aminal Aid and Advice" do fostering, until you get settled, but in the interim yes the RSPCA will collect them, but sadly you wont be able to visit them once they are rehomed, unless you do it privately with friends or colleagues.I cant imagine having to give up my pets, buts here is a big hug,and good luck with it.
HI all, and thank you for your answer, I will certainly look into samoyed rescue if no friends or work mates can come back with anything.
Hi revel,
If I had been staying in the house then I would have kept them all, but I am not and have had to move back into my mums house, therefore I can not take any of them with me. My OH has decided he wants all the animals rehomed as he plans on moving out of the house (he lived there when I met him and I then move in with him) as soon as he can for a clean break.
