Hi I have a 14 year old Yorkie .. for the last 10 mins he can't stop coughing .. I've offered him water and he has eaten a chew stick but to no avail ..any ideas??

If he was my dog I would keep him off treats but offer him some milk which is a bit thicker than water. Just try to keep him calm and reassured. If the cough persists get him checked out by your vet. (I had a great little yorkie some years ago.) Hope he is soon feeling 100% again.
Quite so twinny. linda is correct of course, I have had a few dogs who developed heart problems but their coughing started gradually rather than with an extended coughing fit. One of mine was born with only one heart valve operational but lived to be 16yrs. I would take him to the vets on Monday for your own piece of mind.
