I have been asked to feed a neighbours Koi carp whilst he is on holiday for 10 days. I go in twice a day and give them a handful of fish food. This morning the pump had stopped working and the fish are very lethargic although usually they are waiting for me to feed them. Should I be worried or is it just the very hot weather which is making them lethargic?
hi, if you can't contact the owner for help, try ringing a local aquarium shop for help [in the morning].They maybe able to send someone out to help or recommend some one who can help you out. Because it's so hot its will need sorting asap.
Good luck.
Are you talking about pond or indoor tank? Has the pump stopped working or has the rotor jammed. If you put your hand on the pump does it feel slightly warm or vibrate? If its an external pump put your ear to it, if its jammed you can sometimes hear it humming.
It may just be the filter clogged up if its a submerged pump, just lift the pump out of the water, clean the filter and away you go, remember to turn off the electricity.
The pond is in the garden and there is a big external pump at the back. The electrics are in the garage. There are 2 pipes hanging over the side of the pond (which is very large) and normally water comes out of these in a steady flow but now just one pipe has water trickling out of it. I am a 65 year old widow and not up to dismantling anything !!
