I've got antibiotics for my pup but he absolutely HATES taking them. They're in liquid form and it's a 10minute struggle to get him to take them every day. I give them to him via a syringe and have to struggle to get it in his mouth to give the medicine to him. i was just wondering if I can mix the antibiotics with a little puppy milk? Or will this decrease the effectiveness of the antibiotic?

Many thanks!

Puppy milk may not be smelly enough to disguise them. Try a little mashed sardine, canned salmon or tuna.
Try wrapping him in a towel and hold him under your arm. Just leave his muzzle showing and hold his muzzle with one hand using the other to put the syringe into the side of his mouth.

Lankeela - This is what I've been doing but he gets really really distressed and struggles a lot and often I end up with most of the liquid all over his muzzle rather than in his mouth cause he jerks away at the last second!

I tried it tonight with some puppy milk and he loved it! As long as it won't affect the antibiotics, I think that's the easiest road to go down!

Thanks for your help everyone
I would mix it in with his dinner. All our Labs, if they have needed that great drug Metacam have had it squirted into their dinner. No Probs.
ring your vet and ask as some anti biotics dont work as well when given with milk i found that out when we had to give them to our rabbit she would drink them in milk but was not getting much better when i told the vet i was giving them in milk he said that was why
