Why wont my dog eat when I feed him but if my partner feeds him he will eat?

He will go without food all day if I feed him. He just sits by his bowl even when its got his food in it. But as soon as my partner feeds him he tucks into it straight away.....

Could be a dominance issue, he may think he has to wait until you have eaten, whereas with your partner he may feel superior therefore entitled to eat before them but its a rather extreme situation if he won't eat at all. Try eating in front of him first and see if he then eats his!

one of my shar peis is like that, he wont eat until I come home in the evening, I have tried puting his food down then going out & our other sharpei well she could eat for England and isnt bothered but he will leave the food until I either settle down in front of the tv or I return home, doesnt matter if I have gone for hours and hubby is at home.
