Kittens

Hi, I have recently found some kittens that appear to be abandoned by their mother, they look asif they're 2-3 weeks old, they have fur and their eyes are slightly open.

Its very cold on the allotment where I found them, if I were to bring them inside how would I feed them?

Could I put cows milk in a dish for them or would I have to use a syringe?

Thanks if anyone has any idea.

Don't handle them if you suspect the mother may still be around. At my old work there were loads of feral cats and a young kitchen hand decided to bring in some tiny kittens she had found to let everyone see them. She was told by older staff (who were used to kittens being born in the grounds) not to touch them but she couldn't resist. The mother abandoned them and they all died.

Right, I have been feeding them CMR, and them seem to be taking it very well, and about the cotton wool, would anything substitute this, as I spent up buying the milk at £16.84

What the hells a nubby dishcloth?? And thanks for the link, they must only be a few days old judging by the fact one had its unbelievable cord still attached but it has now fallen off.

They're now suckling the syringes themselves, they can't get it down quick enough! And their ears are no longer folded :) and they seem alot more alert and active than they where yesterday, well that it is until they them all lay in one big pile, normally with the runt at the bottom.

You should never ever feed a kitten cow's milk, condensed, evaporated milk or human baby formula as this will cause stomach upset and severe diarrhoea. If the kittens are already dehydrated, this could prove fatal.

You need to use a specific milk replacement for kittens like KMR - http://www.hyperdrug..../productinfo/KMRP340/

Simmo, you are doing a great thing, but you have to keep at it day and night for quite a while. The kittens may also need a vet check which will cost you, to make sure they are OK. You must be getting attached to them, but I really would recommend you hand them over to the vet or the CPL, they have trained people there to look after them, The CPL will come and collect.

any soft cloth will do to wipe bums but make sure it's soft! well done btw

I've just wiped all their bums and genitals with a damp warm cloth after feeding them and they havent pooed, should I try again soon or doit again after feeding to get them in a routine?

Are they at home with you now?

Just rub the bum area gently for a minute or two to stimulate a mother licking them. Yes, try them after the next feed. Hold them gently in the palm of your hand on their backs whilst you do it. Each one at a time. You will have to have the patience of Job!!
I took ours to work with me every day. I worked in a school and the Head didn't mind because the children took an active interest. I kept them in my jumper sleeve whilst I worked.

God, bet it was hard to point and shout at someone without a kitten flyingout of your sleeve at the speed of light, and i'll give it another after there next feed, they didn't defecate on their last feed again.

I wasn't a teacher JSIMMO, I worked in Admin, not the classroom, but the little kids were allowed in to see the kittens.

They will poop soon by the way. I remember little poop pellets being shot out at an alarming speed when it happened!!!

There's 5, and yes they are, they're at my side, still no luck with this Pellet Kitten lol. I will keep trying after each feed though.
