Hi all, we are thinking of purchasing a rabbit and could do with some advice. I have never had a rabbit before so I am looking for advice re breeds plus any care advice you feel is neccessary. It will mostly be handled by my (very responsible) 10 year old Daughter, so I would like a laid back, placid breed. Like I said, I have never had a rabbit and know very little about them so any advice you can give would be gratefully received.
TIA

Hi all! Many thanks for all your replies. It wasn't that we were looking for a particular breed, just more so as whether any breed would have been more placid. I will certainly make sure it is kept very clean and free from flies. I am also a great believer in rehoming and have been looking on our local rehoming centres website. Like I said, I am very new to rabbits so just after all the advice I can get so I can get a clear picture before we buy one, so the rabbit, and us, are as happy as can be.
Well said posy ......

Just one point that I have not seen mentioned, make sure the Rabbit pen is not only fox proof but has a secluded area where Bunny can hide ( they can become quite frightened if they see a Fox through the wire of the cage.)

Get up to Durham and theres a little beauty eating all of my bloody beans and cauliflowers. You can have it if you can catch it before I stone it to death!!

If only all potential animal owners were like you posy, there would be less animals ending up not wanted or treated unkindly. Hope you find the lucky little guy who looks as though it will have a wonderful home with you.
