I don't know if it will hurt him, but after 3 labrador I can tell you that they eat just about everything. Especially one of them, she ate things much worse than sheep poo, that never hurt her but it could get quite disgusting.
My vet told me that most puppies will eat all sorts of animal poo - even their own.
My german shepherd was particularly partial to that from horses. She grew out of it - and then back into it in her old age.
I don't think it harms them.
On a lighter note I heard a vet on radio recently say (JOKINGLY)that labradors don't have a brain - where their brain should be they have another stomach.
He owns a labrador !
silly moo - that is so true! It is quite amazing so fat labradors can get, even with lots of exercise and diet food. I guess that if you like to gobble down dead dried frogs anything goes :-)
I've had dogs do this in the past. Horse, cow, sheep, other dogs, i never understood why. Someone told me it was because of something lacking in their diet but my dogs have a complete balanced diet and still did it!
I think it's something to do with their digestive system not being fully developed and some nutrients pass through the first time - that would only apply to eating their own though surely?
I read that sheep poo is actually quite good for a dogs digestion, and not to stop dogs munching it up. Gross, just don't look.
...And don't let them lick your face!
graemer - not easy to do!
well..... Labs DO eat anything!
