Cat Rescue

Good day today. Rehomed 2 lovely adult cats & reserved 2 kittens. Of the 22 kittens that were dumped, just 6 left & 1 mum! The bads news: Mum & 3 kittens we took in last week, all 3 kits died of Parvo virus! Mum is fine but in quarentine along with rest of cats/kittens that were in close contact! Hopefully all will be ok but will find out tomorrow after post morton! Dosn't get any better i'm afraid!!

Good about the homings, but sad about the kittens - i hope the others will be OK.

I didn't realise that parvo was a cat disease - you learn something every day.

I have to admit having a great dislike of cats today - I might snap.

It must be hard to go home at the end of the day without a kitten or two in your pocket. :-)

Frankie is refusing to take his inhaler - I don't know where he hides but I haven't been able to get him to comply with his doctor's orders. He miraculously appeared last night when I picked up a tin of tuna. They are indoor cats so he has to be hiding somewhere near.

I don't want to have to take him to the vet for monthly steroid jabs - but I may have to. I really want to throttle him - if I could just find him!

kat - there should be no need for orphanages like your one or our local Cats Protection branches. As my old vet used to say "cats breed like rabbits" and people who do not neuter there animals or abandon them should be forced to pay money to places like yours.

I know people who hate cats - but none of them would hurt one. It is the people who thing that they are cat/animal lovers who cause all the problems.

I don't work but do voluntary work for Oxfam - we work hard and take in a fair bit of money (book and music shop) but it never seems to be enough. It is frustrating.

Glad to hear that you are still successfully rehoming the cats and kittens. Sad about the other kittens though, must be a very difficult part of the job when you lose cats like that :(
The 8 kittens and mother that were dumped outside a local vet here have all found new homes after the report in the paper. So many people offered that they have referred them to a local cat rescue place so hopefully more will find homes now

My cat suddenly developed a limp in one leg accompanied with great pain which disappeared as quickly as it appeared only to transpire into another limb.The vet was at a loss, the cat was experiencing muscle wastage. I eventually 'discovered' it was limping cat syndrome, due to a virus related to the Parvo virus..and that it would simple go away..which it did and with home applied physio the cat is at 99%..My point is keep posting..it was only through the likes of these forums that info and answers are found .
