How can I stop foxes from digging up my roses and other plants? Is there a deterrant I can buy? Each time I re-plant them, they dig them up again... Any help welcomed... Thanks.

Would chicken wire under and around the roots of the plants stop the digging?
My daughter has got one of these. It's brilliant! http://www.primrose.c...c6F1qsCFUMKfAodKgh5Og

You may get a cheaper one at your local garden centre.

I never thought of that, thanks I'll give it a go!
Why are the foxes doing this? Is there something there which is attracting them? They are surely not interested in eating the rose bushes. I saw a news article recently recommending chilli powder sprinkled around to deter other animals perhaps it will deter foxes as well.

I read somewhere that foxes do have a tendancy to dig holes, and its best to leave the holes... filling them in just makes the foxes dig them again and it can become a battle of wills...
My roses are birthday presents, and I was angry to find them dug up this morning.

Thanks for your help everyone!!
take their spades away lol

thanks spitza... i needed to laugh!!
its hardly ideal, wearing my wellies with my office clothes in the rain, trying to re-plant!!
Apparently the best fox deterrant is human urine. How you wish to apply it is entirely up to you. Did you put fish, blood and bone or bonemeal in when you planted them? If they are just going for the roses it could be that they can smell it.
