My employer is trying to do me for dishonesty,i hurt my ribs at work and at AandE the doctor said that i had "likely" broken a couple of ribs, the next morning my wife called my employer and said that i had broken a couple of ribs.
2 weeks later i got an xray as AandE didn't feel the need to do one and my results came back as not broken ribs but internal damage and now my employer thinks i'm being dishonest because my wife called and said that they were broken,i did send an e-mail to my employer saying "thankfully my ribs are NOT broken"
Contact HR and speak to them if your employer/boss is pressuring you then. There must be someone in/at your head office that can help you if you feel you are being treated unfairly. Are you in a union?
My doc gave me notes for work as i was in a lot of pain,Hospital gave me morphine.
My employer asked for my medical records and last week asked for records from the hospital.
My employer is looking to reduce costs by 20% and i feel i'm being treated really unfairly
Your employer has no right to see your medical records and as long as you have medical notes signing you off sick then your employer has no right to give you grief. Are you with a union? Contact Citizens advice if things get worse. Your employer can only request the sick notes provided by the doctor/hospital and you are entitled to take as much time off as needed to heal until a medical professional says you are fit for work again or you decide your well enough to go back. Can I ask what your job is?
I very recently tore my intercostal muscles in my chest whilst at work - I thought I had broken a rib they were so painful. I ended up being signed off sick for a couple of weeks. If you are injured you are entitled to take the time off sick to recover, simple as.

The issue they have is that my wife told them that i had broken a couple of ribs (reasonable presumption after being told that i had likely broken a couple of ribs i think) and then me telling them that they werent broken, they are now going down the dishonesty road and stressing me out
On your first medical note form the hospital what did they write as the reason for your being off work? At the end of the day you and your wife are not medical professionals (I assume) you can only tell your employer what you are told at the hospital. If you hadn't had the x-ray straight away you can only tell them what you are told.
Your employer is entitled to speak to your doctor concerning your condition and return to work and is also entitled to see your medical records but only with your written consent. You are well within your rights to refuse such a thing though.
Im with Brenda or as I previously said you must have a Human Resources or similar to talk too about the whole situation. Have you spoken to your boss since and explained the entire situation? With regards to the records business. Surely the original medical/sick note would say suspected broken ribs or similar - this would surely be enough proof to your employer that you were telling them what you believed to be the truth.
