The couple next door has not long moved in, they have 2 small children & a yapping bloody dog, today Friday is the refuse collection & this Smug goes ballistics, as I type of now all I can hear is this dog yapping, I do not like falling out with people but this is getting beyond a joke, I know the owners of this house as the house is rented, what would you do? I have had a word with his wife about the bloody dog but still nothing has been done, your advise would be welcomed before I shoot the Basds thing.

Personally I'd weather your storm, there are worse things than barking dogs.
You could go to the environmental health bit of your council about excessive noise but I suppose it depends if you want to fall out with your neighbours. You could also mention it in passing to the owner of the house to see if they could have a discrete word. I get the impression that you would like them out of the house but I think that is going a bit over the top.
We have people both sides of us who have dogs that take it in turns to bark, it gets on my nerves but I can't really do a great deal about it as the ones on one side are apologetic about it and the ones on the other side probably wouldn't care less if I did say something (and I am more worried about the screaming, shouting and nastiness that I can hear from their house than I am about a dog barking).

Daffy to be honest, yes I can understand dogs and other noises being irritating and so on, but I also do think that there is a huge amount of fuss made these days over pretty normal things like dogs barking, kids playing and other run of the mill life happenings. We used to live in Gower Street in Bloomsbury, and the first night I moved in with my ( to be) wife I thought 'How the hell can she sleep through that???' because literally every 10 minutes an ambulance from the nearby hospital would tear past with it's sirens on. In the end, like her, I got used to it and never even noticed it or got woken by it- how can a little yappy dog seriously be much more than an irritation? Annoying but not really that important in the big scheme of things surely?
Obviously you don't want to fall out with your neighbours, but this sounds like hell on earth. I'd try making a few more friendly complaints to the neighbours before taking it further (i.e. complaining to their landlord and/or recording the noise and taking it to your local council).
The thing is, if they have two small children and a yappy dog, then surely the noise they have to live with must be loads more than you're having to put up with. Which makes me think that chances are they are pretty much on edge with the situation and might just flip if you get too hissy with them. So maybe take a deep breath, count to 10, etc, before knocking on the door. And if they flare up and tell you to F-off, try not to get angry but keep on making your point quietly but firmly. These things can escalate horribly.

I do not have a problem with children, I do not have a problem with the couple, I do not want them out, I like animals, with the weather warming up I do not want to listle to a fcking yapping dog when I sit or do work in my garden, I think it's going to be the Landlord, I did part of the work on his / her house so they know it takes a lot ( Belive me or not) to wind me up. Thanks all for your replies.
