Am really stuck with this - is the name of the city "Sucre"?
The four pictures are of some traditionally dressed dancers, two cupped hands holding what are probably ancient siliver coins, some brown sugar lumps and an upwards view of some local architecture.

Is it somewhere in Brazil?

the question is:

All that glitters is not gold - this city made its name in the great South American silver rush of the 16th century. It is also credited for a sweet victory during the 19th century against the colonial power. Unfortunately, peace has yet to break out with its rival for title of capital of the country. Name the city.

I've run out of ideas using my usual searach techniques ....

You were good with Sucre............... I've gone for Sucre in Bolivia, it used to be the capital city before La Paz. And their was athriving silver industry before it's decline. And I found an image of that tower in Sucre - so job done methinks

Santiago de Cuba measures up with the silver wars, sugar, and rivalry with Havanna for capital.

So the picture of the tower is the clincher for Sucre in Bolivia. Don't know if I can cut & paste websites or images on here, but it's the exact same tower that comes up in many images and sites of Sucre in Bolivia.
