Hi, My friend has given me a young apple tree, that she has dug up from her garden. Unfortunately the day I received the tree I also received an injury, that prevents me from digging a spot and replanting it. Would anyone know, whether the tree would cope with being placed into a patio pot for the time being, if so would it be better to leave it there for the remainder of the growing season, or could I then plant it into the ground when I'm able.
Thank you.

There should be no problem planting it into a large pot, keeping it watered, and leave it there for the season, move again in the autumn.
