Advice please.
The couple next door has not long moved in, they have 2 small children & a yapping bloody dog, today Friday is the refuse collection & this Smug goes ballistics, as I type of now all I can hear is this dog yapping, I do not like falling out with people but this is getting beyond a joke, I know the owners of this house as the house is rented, what would you do? I have had a word with his wife about the bloody dog but still nothing has been done, your advise would be welcomed before I shoot the Basds thing.

The dog has again broken our wood panel fence for the2nd time with jumping up on it, her B.F. / O.H. was working in London I had a word with the person & stated we had, had enough of this + the barking, I tried to be as polite as I could, later on her brother came around & said that his sister rang him in tears over what I had said ( Nothing offensive honestly) I had to go around that evening to apologize but said this problem had to be sorted, me been a soft @rse could not get it out of my head that I had her in tears the following day bought her a bunch of flowers & apologise again, It seems not the dog has been given to her brother that lives local & I'm feeling a right b@sdard, I just want to know your truthful views, was I right? I can take criticism so I will not take offence, but would you feel the sdame way?

Find the point of mediation - no doubt she feels bad too - so what can be done to mitigate the situation, invite her over for a coffee. They may be nicer than your first impressions.......
I can never understand why people want to own yappy dogs. Does the noise not get on their nerves too? I had the misfortune to have a woman living next to me with two little dogs that used to bark all the time so I know how you feel. You`ve got to try to deal with it calmly though because if you get their backs up, they`ll be less inclined to cooperate. My first recourse was to phone the letting agents and get them to tell the landlord. I don`t think they bothered though because I later found out that there was a "no pets" clause in their tenancy agreement. It might be work having a word with the landlord. Don`t beat yourself up about complaining. Constant noise can be very stressful.
No TWR, I do agree with you, as long as you were as you said calm and controlled when you complained about the dog. I would not have been so nice to take flowers round.
If it continues I would write them a letter, maybe you should seek advice from the council or the landlord? Really depends on the type of people they are too i'd say.
Actually I think you're being overly nice if it's just as you described. Have they done nothing about the dog since you asked in March? Having lived in a flat where a small dog from above me yapped constantly when they were out I can understand the stress it can cause.
Its only natural to feel a bit like that . No normal person enjoys upsetting others - just try and remenber how upset YOU were at the time of the problems .
Anyway you got a result really :)
I wouldn't apologise for upsetting her - she hasn't apologised for the dog breaking your fence. However, you've opened the conversation and that can only be a good thing. You are quite within your rights to hope for a peaceful home life, something needed to be said.

Why does the dog live with her, if it belongs to her brother?
Its better to know the dog & then you can control it. Give it the odd tit bit in friendship; it will then stop barking at your command.
If I am reading this correctly - I think the dog has gone to live with her brother.
Id probobly feel bad yeah....but im a dog owner....and you just cant let dogs yap yap yap all the time...

Wish my neighbours would think the same about their excessively noisey kids though!! Grr xx
Thanks mamya - I think you are right - I read it as the dog belonged to her brother :-)

Thanks all for the replies, the dog belonged to the person next door boxy, I think to keep the piece she has taken the dog to her brothers, although I know the owner of the house ( He lives in Ashford Boxy) I do not want to go down the road, whilst I was in the house that night the person slipped out by saying that they had, had the problem in the house that they left to come next door to us, she has 2 little lads 7 this has now left me thinking " you nasty b@sdard, & believe me, I'm not like that, I would prefer to do than to take. My wife is not the best with her nerves so for her to listen to this every morning was getting, well you know what I mean but it still leaves me feeling Sht.
well, you have the base to talk to her now (both of you) and then work something out with the new neighbour - and show her your compassion......

I'm sure I done that when I went around with the flowers & apologised DT.
Yes TWR, you rotten bugger.

The kids will be crying, the dog will be howling at its new home, and the mum will have taken to the gin in an effort to cope with it all.

(no, you did the right thing- in fact was far nicer than I'd have been!)

Thank you all, I gather you had a good day Boo?
Yeah ace ta TWR, have you?

I've posted some pictures in my thread further down if you want to have a look.
Thats a trait in people .You bought her flowers even though were right .I was reading that after some people stick up for them selves they feel guilty .why should you feel bad you did nowt wrong .Now go round and get the flowers back and tell her you are not sorry at all
poor dog hopefully he will get better care at the brothers. Dogs don't bark incessantly for amusement, they are either stressed or scared or both.
