there was a wasp in my bedroom earlier, it was the biggest wasp ive ever seen in my life, it was massive! I was crapping myself it would sting me as i tried to get it out the window cos i could see its stinger from over the other side of the room lol
anyway what i wanna know is....is it likely to be a lone giant or could there be more of em? And why is it so blooming big when its the first nice day we've had for ages, i thought the cold would have killed them off or something. Anyway I fancied a walk in the woods and they are usually bigger there than they are near the houses and i read and watch wayyyy to much horror stuff and i darent go now.....just in case... well you never know....
thanks daij, i wondered about that but we get hornets and they are different...the hornets usually have a fatter abdomen bit, this was pure wasp shape.... unless ive got them the wrong way round.. i hope you are right though.....
Absolutely hate wasps. I've been stung several times in the past, so feel they're out to get me! If I see one, I can't rest till it's out of the house. One tried to sting my dog once, but couldn't get through his thick fur, I managed to knock it off and it promptly flew up, landed on my eyebrow and stung me - it hurt like hell!
One just appeared on my worktop one morning this week. Fortunately it was dozy, so I did it a mischief, but it startled me. It was bigger than the usual ones. Perhaps they are just coming out of hibernation?
thanks toes and kiki.... i didnt even know hornets could sting...ive chased a fair few out with rolled up newspaper before...I wont be doing that again..... ive been stung by a wasp before and that really hurt... i just did a google and it said its more painful being stung by hornet cos theres more poison
ouch chapz.... i got stung twice by the same wasp at the top of my arm and that was bad enough.... but on the face eeeek
hi helly, this one seemed a bit dozy... i opened the window near to it and kept expecting it to dive bomb me when i went near it but it didnt... it just flew off in the end
That's nothing pdust, I've also been stung just under my eye which came up all black and blue like I'd been punched! In my opinion (and yours too obviously) wasps are to be avoided at all costs. (lol).
ooh what are those gness? im getting a bit braver where spiders are concerned and if i could catch them instead of panicking and getting my ak47 out to them it would be good
not wishing to cause alarm but..... have been stung by wasps many times in the past and each time it has got worse - this is common - last time I was refused treatment at four chemist's and told to see a doctor (for a wasp sting??!!) my arm swelled up to the size of an elephants trunk and even after four/five days of cold water treatment etc, it hadn't reduced - I'm dreading the next one and carry antihistimine with me now.
Kleeneze or Betterware. Clear plastic pyramid shape. Long handle at pointed end and sliding trapdoor at the other. Turn so door slides open and place over spider/wasp. Turn 90degrees and door slides shut. Dispose at arms length....run!
