I have a 1.5 yr old female Ragdoll, im thinking of getting another cat not sure what breed yet. My question is would my little girl get on better with a boy or girl?

Thank you,
Kathryn xx

We have three, and they are all blokes.
without question .. another female
I have often had more than 1 cat in various combinations. I think it's luck of the draw whether they get on or not whatever their sex.

Wow that was quick, thanks for your replies, also what is the best way to intoduce them?

slowly. keep the newcomer in a cage for a few days, so she cannot hide .. your existing cat can take her time approaching and getting used to another cat. in time, when there seems to be no problem, let newbie out
My cat loves other cats. Just a pity some of them don't like him...
It doesn't really matter how you go about it, there will always be the odd squabble.
I have brother and sister, I figured that they would be able to play with each other and be happy together.

They bicker and fight, Merlin (girl) beats Frankie up, Frankie chases Merlin - it is like living with two hyperactive toddlers.

They never sleep together like cats do in photographs. Sometimes them being in the same room together without flying fur and blood is a miracle.

Have fun.
wolf. you have just re-inforced my arguement for same gender pets.

We also have a dalmation, which when i go out the dog has the kitchen & dining room & the cat has the rest of the house. Do you seperate your cats when out or are they ok together? Thanks, xx
Yeah, but don't you just love them, Wolf.
tonyav is correct.....it doesn't matter what sex and how you introduce them..........they will sort themselves out.

We have three cats and in a rota with other people look after 80 in a compound.
once used to each other, they will be fine together

Oh god wolf, that doesn't sound to much fun. xx
We have four at the moment, used to have five. The two boy cats get on famously, and are desperate to play with the two girl cats who do not want to play with them. One of the girls hates every other cat in the house and the other runs and hides from the rest. Our fifth cat who sadly died last summer, got along famously with every other cat in our family. It all depends on whether your little girl cat is well disposed to welcoming another cat into her territory. If you do I'd suggest another girl and introduce them to one and other gradually keeping the newcomer separate from the "senior" cat and I wouldn't leave them alone together until they have been together for some time and you are sure they get along
Bloody hell sqad, 80 cats in a compound, do you have to wear a suit of armour lol.
tony.....LOL....no they know which side of their bread is buttered....

Sort of sounding that it might just be luck of the draw, as others have said. xx
Think of it as living with squabbling toddler siblings - I love them both very much and they are healthy (apart from Frankie's asthma) and not fierce (with me).

When they start fighting I leave them to it - they are 7 next month so nothing major has gone wrong.
Wow sqad, you rise even more in my estimation :-)
