I have a 1.5 yr old female Ragdoll, im thinking of getting another cat not sure what breed yet. My question is would my little girl get on better with a boy or girl?
slowly. keep the newcomer in a cage for a few days, so she cannot hide .. your existing cat can take her time approaching and getting used to another cat. in time, when there seems to be no problem, let newbie out
We also have a dalmation, which when i go out the dog has the kitchen & dining room & the cat has the rest of the house. Do you seperate your cats when out or are they ok together? Thanks, xx
We have four at the moment, used to have five. The two boy cats get on famously, and are desperate to play with the two girl cats who do not want to play with them. One of the girls hates every other cat in the house and the other runs and hides from the rest. Our fifth cat who sadly died last summer, got along famously with every other cat in our family. It all depends on whether your little girl cat is well disposed to welcoming another cat into her territory. If you do I'd suggest another girl and introduce them to one and other gradually keeping the newcomer separate from the "senior" cat and I wouldn't leave them alone together until they have been together for some time and you are sure they get along
Think of it as living with squabbling toddler siblings - I love them both very much and they are healthy (apart from Frankie's asthma) and not fierce (with me).
When they start fighting I leave them to it - they are 7 next month so nothing major has gone wrong.
