Canada Geese

In the same field as Minnie, the pregnant shetland pony,

are a few sheep and in the middle of the field there's a boggy patch where a pair of Canada geese have chosen to stay and have their chicks! I wouldn't even TRY to get near them to take a photo (the adult geese are always on guard) and I don't have a big zoom lens, but I hope you can JUST see them to the left of one of the parents. There are 6 chicks and they are just like big grey fluff balls.

you will be able to get fairly close so long as you have some food for the parents just be alert to posturing from the gander and step back quietly if he starts

Oo I'm not that brave Rowan. Maybe I'll try walking around to the far gate later and see if I can get a little closer. They're SO lovely.

take some corn or even a bit of bread... they are pretty good at working out if you are a threat or not
